Job Responsibilities:
Dorigo Systems Ltd. (www.dorigo.com), one of the Pacific Northwest’s leading contract manufacturers of electronic PCB assemblies, is seeking a full-time Purchaser. Major responsibilities will include:

PURCHASING FUNCTIONS
- undertake necessary purchasing responsibilities for turnkey contract build requirements as outlined by Operations and Business Development departments
- qualify component costing as researched by Quotations staff and determine best supply options or source alternatives if necessary (includes comparison of vendor pricing, lead times, stock and minimum order quantities)
- work directly with customers to qualify substitutions or part replacements
- source direct lead-free (RoHS) replacement parts
- anticipate long lead time, allocation or other component issues
- negotiate price, delivery and other special terms with suppliers
- create, submit, confirm, review, expedite and re-negotiate Purchase Orders as necessary
- report status of purchasing cycle to Operations department, noting special circumstances, instructions and any expected surplus components at completion of the build
- research and implement opportunities to reduce total cost and inventory investment
- assist with data set-up for new materials, vendors and BOMs in company ERP software system

SUPPLIER DEVELOPMENT
- develop and maintain supplier relationships, establish business terms, evaluate supplier performance
- work with suppliers towards continuous improvement of quality, cost and delivery times
- co-ordinate, manage and qualify vendor returns (RMAs)

Job Skills:
The qualified candidate will possess the following attributes:

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- must have directly related experience in the electronics industry, preferably within Western Canada
- must have familiarity with local electronic component distributors and related industry suppliers
- must be familiar with electronic component nomenclature and manufacturer’s part numbers
- strong negotiating skills
- excellent interpersonal, organizational and verbal/written communication skills
- strong work ethic, self directed, determined, customer/team-oriented, energetic, enthusiastic
- demonstrated tenacious follow-up ability, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- must have ability to multi-task, judge priorities and handle a variety of duties/assignments at once (sometimes under pressure) with a positive attitude
- computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office suite of tools (Excel, Word, etc)
- high school graduation and preferable 1-2 yrs post secondary education with strong math skills

ADDITIONAL ASSETS
- related experience within an electronics manufacturing environment
- exposure to computerized inventory control and production scheduling
- experience within an ISO9001:2000 environment
- working knowledge of Expandable ERP software (www.expandable.com) or similar products
